Doctor Weddings - one where Donna didn't run away

In the last episodes of David Tennants final days of being The Doctor, the storyline traces the life of Donna Noble after The Doctor removed her part-Time Lord and all her memories of her time with him.

Her post-Doctor life see her meet a very unextraordinary man and we hear of their money struggles. In the final scenes, the Doctor turns up at Donna's real wedding - where she can only afford a cheap tiara - and gives her mum a wedding present of a lottery ticket.

The Doctor knows his days are numbered, so bends the rules, we guess to deliver winning lottery ticket-to-be. That's the best gift he can give Donna under the circumstances. Donna will never need discount tiaras again.

You may now kiss me, baby...erm... lady one more time

An iconic moment in pop culture music history, only missing 3 cheap tiaras.

It's the MTV performance of Like A Virgin, with age-defying queen of pop Madonna and her polygamous performance with pop princess brides Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

Straight or gay, they swing it either way. Singers, gay couples and extroverts take inspiration from their cheeky outfits and ordacity.

These three ladies are legends in their own right, and so was the look on Justin Timberlake's face, as his ex-Britney snogged the face off not only another woman, but Madonna. Bless him... that's show biz.

American Pie 3 - The Wedding

Weird... this post is going to feature a red head bride and a Buffy alum, both things which we've previously posted about here on The Geek Bride!

Hold on to your discount tiara.

The first three America Pie films captured the hearts of angsty geeks and teens everywhere, for their hilarious rude humour, underpinned by simply illustrating, stuff you go through.

American Pie 3 shows the journey of Jim and Michelle from the blow job proposal to their touching wedding at the end, complete with Stifler and a dance off in a gay bar, in laws, humping dogs and poo humour.

Willow-I-mean-Michelle's wedding dress is a traditional white, but the interesting thing is, the brides maids are dressed in black, and it looks really classy. The perfect finishing touch would have been cheap tiaras, but hey.

Here's the dance off, for shits and giggles:

Geeky wedding cakes

Along with beautiful yet cheap tiaras, who needs traditional when you can let your favourite superheroes get in on the wedding cake act?

Gotta love a Darlek, Marvel, Star Trek, Buffy or Mario Kart cake!

Teenage Angst Flashback: Buffy and Angel Get Married

What geek didn't spend their teens eating up all the love and angst they could get with Buffy The Vampire Slayer. (Being truthful, it'd still be true now, you know it!)

Taking place as dream sequence in The Prom (series 3), Buffy dreams that she and Angel are getting married, but as they step into the sunlight after, Buffy burns to ashes, not Angel as one would expect with a vampire.

This ep is sooo wrenching, as it's the one where Angel breaks up with Buffy and announces his leave town once that series' big bad (The Mayor) is defeated. Buffy's broken, yet has to continue being the hero and go to prom. In the end, Angel turns up at prom and they slow dance, I guess acknowledging the past, but also there's nothing she can do to change it. *Goosebumps*

Discount tiaras would have been the perfect touch to both the wedding dress and the prom dress.

Where's a Buffy boxset when you need one?

That Tiara is a tradgedy!

90's popular culture is not complete without a mention of Steps and their cover of the Beegee's song Tradgedy.

The video is fun as you like with all the girls getting married, and lads trying to sabotage them, before the iconic dance scene at the Disco with Pete Waterman as MC. Yeah.

We've got Faye sporting blonde dreads, with a crown-discount tiara with stylized bead veil. Lisa has gone for a classic wedding tiara while Claire has a headband style cheap tiara.

It has to be said, I'm loving the boys in co-ordinated purple shirts and ties rather than a full suit. Is the song stuck in your head yet? Deep down you know you still love it!

Torchwood's Gwen Cooper Wedding Day

In our last post we talked about Red Head weddings going on in the Whoniverse... how poor old Donna could only afford discount tiaras, until the Doctor tinkered with time and gave her a winning lottery ticket as an anonymous wedding present before he regenerated.

Another wedding in the extended Whoniverse sprang to mind... Gwen Cooper in Torchwood, married Reece in the episode Something Borrowed, against all alien pregnancy odds.

After getting bitten in a pursuit with an alien, all seemed well on her hen night. When she woke up on the morning of her wedding, an immaculate conception come full term alien egg pregnancy.

Deciding the show must go on, Gwen insisted on getting married. The alien fight came to the wedding, resulting in the whole wedding party being given amnesia-drug laced champagne. Good times, Reece got the girl and Jack looked like his heart cracked just a little bit.

Gwen sported a lovely discount tiara headband and contemporary dress.

Doctor Who and Red Head Brides

Doctor Who has got to be the best show on TV. Speak of Brides... they've (concidentally?) ended up all being red heads.

But our Donna Noble and Amy Pond could not be more different.

Donna was a temp, with no self confidence who was destined in the stars to meet with the Doctor and be a part of saving the world, although she never would believe just how special and important she was. First appearing in The Runnaway Bride, Donna has been duped into getting married (long story) to benefit the dormant humanoid-spider aliens. It ended with her turning down adventures in the Tardis with the Doctor.

They meet later where she accompanies his for the whole series, culminating in her becoming the Doctor-Donna - half human, half Time Lord. Knowing this can't go on, the Doctor has no choice but to remove any memories of her time with him, otherwise her brain will literally burn and kill her. A very wrenching ending, to an underated assistant that deserves a second viewing to fully appreciate.

Donna has always be skint, so I'm guess her headgear is a discount tiara!

Amy Pond on the other hand, as feisty and challenging to the Doctor as Donna (my days, I'd love to see them together!) met the Doctor as a child. Shortly after he regenerated, he crash landed in Amy Pond's garden, took the Tardis for a 5 minutes spin, landing actually years later as Amy is a twentysomething, plagued and infatuated by her brief encounter with the Doctor as a child.

Amy travels with the Doctor, later joined by her finance Rory. Despite her trying it on with the Doctor, their travels together cements the fact that Rory is her true love. We get a happy ending to series 5, awaiting to see where the Doctor, Amy and Rory will end up next.

Amy's tomboyish style means her cheap tiara would be a subtle touch to her outfit, to keep her traditional veil in place.

When is my imaginary friend gonna turn up?

Geeky wedding rings for Geek brides

Cheap tiaras can vary from the simple head band to something a celebrity would be quite at home wearing, so what about wedding rings?

Wedding rings inspired by binary code, star constellations, retro toys, tools and computers are all hitting the market.

They are different, but you know you're inner geek is dying to say how cool they are!
